Perfect dresses for a day at the races

Tomorrow, hubby and I are off to the Victoria Cup race day at Ascot. We are taking my Mum and Dad. You may recall that they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. We always struggle knowing what to buy them so, as they've never been before, we thought it would be a perfect gift. We do quite a lot with them and we knew they'd enjoy it more if we were there too, plus any excuse to get glammed up and drink champagne works for me!

I think one of the best bits about going to the races, is the chance to get glammed up. I love all the searching for the perfect dress, shoes and accessories that comes with events like these. Therefore, it's fair to say that I've been doing a fair bit of browsing when planning my outfit for tomorrow! I thought I'd share some of the lovely dresses I've come across in my search.

Oasis pleated midi dress - £65

I love how pretty this dress is and think it would look gorgeous with some strappy heels and a pale loose blazer. Personally I don't think my arms are slender enough to pull this one off, but I can dream!

Coast Millana dress - £150

I tried this dress on last week at John Lewis and the material is amazing. It looks really expensive. I love how striking it is and think it would look amazing with black pointy toe heels and a black hat.

Whistles Bodega Print Eva Bodycon dress - £140

I absolutely love Whistles' dresses. They are so flattering and I love all the different prints. I've seen this in the shop and I don't actually think the picture online does it justice, so I'd advise you to go and see it in the flesh. It would look lovely with some navy heels.

New Look Cutie Green Ruffle Sleeve dress - £32

I love the colour of this dress and think it would look lovely with some neutral coloured heels and gold accessories. Plus at £32, it's a bargain!

Warehouse Feather Print Satin Shift dress - £68

I love the blue in this dress. I also like the fact that it has little sleeves, so is perfect for those who are conscious about their arms. This would look lovely with black heels.

Oasis Hollie Oriental Jacquard dress - £65

Oasis are great for special occasion dresses and I love the pretty floral print on this print dress. This would look lovely with strappy pale pink or neutral heels.

I think all of the above would also work equally well for a wedding or christening, so you can always off-set the spending guilt using the old "cost per wear" reasoning!

As for what I'll be wearing tomorrow... I'm keeping it a surprise, but I promise to do a post with lots of pic next week.

In the meantime, why not check out my Pinterest Ascot board for more inspiration.

  1. Oh my word I want both of those Oasis dresses now! I have no occasion to wear either for though. Maybe I should buy them and find an occasion! Is that ok? x
