A day at the races

On Saturday we went to Ascot races with my parents.

It was their 50th Wedding Anniversary in April, so for their gift we'd booked a day at the races. Obviously we couldn't let them go alone, so Simon and I went too!

We had an absolutely amazing day. The weather, which had been a bit hit and miss all week, was lovely. The journey down to the hotel, was uneventful and there was a great atmosphere at the course.

Me and Simon in our finest - I love getting glammed up! Despite searching for a new dress, in the end I decided to wear a Whistle dress that I had for Christmas. I wore it with some black heels, a black blazer and a black fascinator.

Me and my lovely Mum. She's lost quite a bit of weight in the past year and is now paranoid about the wrinkles on her face, so she hardly smiles in photo's anymore - she's happy really!

I love Champagne and this one is my absolute favourite!

A pre-Champagne selfie to show off my fascinator!

Taking in the atmosphere before the races began.

The beautiful parade ring.

All dressed up!

Savouring some of the lovely cocktails in the Premier Enclosure!

The message to my Mum and Dad we had put into the Race Guide.

The second bottle of the day!

The view of the finish line from our seats.

I won on the last race! Well done Childs Play (chosen because it reminded me of my little ones)!

As you can see we had a fantastic day!

We also stayed overnight at a local hotel, so it was such a treat to have a much-needed lie in and a lovely hotel breakfast the following day, before heading back for cuddles with my beauties!

  1. How lovely. Your mother looks absolutely beautiful when she does smile. I confess, I had to Google "fascinator". I'm glad you had such a wonderful time… 50 years of marriage is no small thing!

    Thanks for linking with #TwinklyTuesday!

  2. Hi Jemma. Looks like you had an amazing day. Great photos and a win!!! Result. We are off to Ladies day at Ascot next Thursday with friends and am really looking forward to it (still haven't got a hat or fascinator though!). We opted for the silver ring though so we can take a picnic and champers with us!

    1. Wow, Ladies Day will be amazing! We wanted to take my Mum and Dad to Royal Ascot, but Simon's parents are away, so we didn't have anyone to have the kids overnight. Have an amazing time and I hope to hear all about it on the blog! x
